Blohm & Voss BV 144 is a German aircraft designed and developed during the Second World War. It was a reconnaissance airplane designed to operate from naval and land bases. The BV 144 was a twin-engined aircraft with a crew of three or four and was made entirely of metal. It has a length of 16.8 meters, a wingspan of 23.4 meters, a height of 5.3 meters, and a maximum speed of 475 km/h.
The aircraft's first flight took place in 1943, and it went through a series of testing until 1945 when the war ended. However, the BV 144 never entered mass production, and only two prototypes were built. The BV 144 was intended to replace the older BV 141 reconnaissance plane, but it didn't get a chance to do so mainly because of the war's rapid conclusion.
Despite its short existence and lack of production, the BV 144 helped to establish Blohm & Voss as a leading aircraft manufacturer in Germany. The innovative design of the aircraft paved the way for the development of other aircraft in the future. Today, the two surviving BV 144 prototypes are on display in Germany and the United States.
